This is the 83rd Company. For the most part not many were lost in combat. They started the war together and ended it together. The 3rd Platoon photo was accidentally destroyed. The 3rd Platoon was my grandfathers platoon.

2 Marines in bivouac. The Marine on the right is showing off his patch and fruit salad.

Senior NCOs from the 83rd Company. Notice the First SGT on the left has a camera the other has a captured belt from a German soldier...Wonder what the German soldier was thinking when he walked away holding his pants up. Maybe they shouldn't have started the war.....

This is PVT. Manship. He is a Marine in the 3rd Platoon. PVT. Manship is on guard duty and is wearing the typical uniform for guard duty which includes; M1903 bolt action rifle, M1910 cartridge belt, M1910 1st Aid pouch, P1912 canteen and cover, M1905 Bayonet. His uniform is typical of the Marine worn US Army M1912 wools. His overseas cap is probably locally made.

Baseball at Camp Lee. Marines in this picture are enjoying a nice game of baseball. The war has ended and they have returned to being the boys they were when they left home.

The 83rd Company enjoying a nice game of football.

General Lejuene circled with other staff review the 6th Marines after the war.

Three Marines take time from other duties to relax and walk to vinyards on the hills just above Leutesdorf. If you notice the church steeple in the background you will see it in other pictures on this site and in photos of the town today.
